New S. L. P. P. A program for Reform. by
Thomas “Boytee” George. Book Synopsis.
Old Sierra Leone Peoples Party (S. L. P.P.) needs a vibrant, forward-thinking World View; a long-term, Progressive, reform- minded, Leadership that connects with our Peoples needs and interests.
A new Leadership with Vision that will make prudent investments in Sierra Leone’s infrastructure, invest in Science and Technology, build a great Business Community: a Smart, well-trained work force, and a Government committed to freeing Business to build our Tax Base and create Jobs.
This New Sierra Leone Peoples Party has a Positive Action Program that includes:
-Fresh Leadership with new ideas.
-Promotes Free Trade.
-Creates a Market-based Economy.
-Institutes the Rule-of-Law.
-Enforces Equal Justice under Law.
-Protects Workers Rights.
-Develop Policies that Educate our People and reduces abject poverty.
Old SLPP's ideas and policies are tired, shopworn and obsolete. They are all wedded to the past.
How do we as a government distribute the National Fruits of Labor? New SLPP will institute the wishes of the value voter.
We will use the analytic Tools of Modern Science. Eventually this will develop Social and Political systems, incorporating the Values of a Modern African Culture, with Morals and Ethics.
New S. L. P. P. is the party of the People.
Old S. L. P. P. needs a new Attitude, and a progressive Leadership with a new sense of National Unity and Real Democracy.
A renewed focus to educate, feed, house and take good care of our People, focused on our Collective responsibilities.
New S. L. P. P. will find the essential balance and independence between the Executive, Legislative and Judicial Functions of State. Political Power will be tethered on the rule-of-law. If, we
a Party are not riding the waves of change and Reform, we will find ourselves beneath it. Now, is the time to develop working and productive systems for our People.
New S. L. P. P. will start a course on National Infrastructure building and focused economic Development Program for sierra Leone. Constitutional Reform, specifically devolution of Power and Human Rights Legislation, will be swiftly pursued.
National Passion and Purpose are the energizing forces that fuel our work. NewS. L. P. P will think of the forgotten Family:
particularly, Women and Youths.
New S.L.P.P. will promote Merit and fair-mindedness, based on the Rule-of-Law and Real Democracy.
Clearly, the alternative is Civil War and insurrections. We believe that the Rule-of-Law must be applied f&rly in our Society. This way, we can All feel as One. This process will be complemented by Human Rights Vetting, Humanitarian Law instruction and clear Mechanisms for monitoring and accountability.
Finally, we will develop a capacity building model that meets People’s needs.
Now, is the time to raise the Dignity of our People, Country and Africa, strengthen our impact and full expression of the African Personality in the Global Context.
Our Party must work tirelessly to Reform itself, removhg faults and detects.
We must put a stop to abuses, corruption, malpractices, tribalism, regionalism, gender-bias and all other backward tendencies. Our Party must get rid of this boredom, mixed with frustration, particularly amongst the Youths. Otherwise, it will create a toxic brew that will work against our wishes and aspirations.
The results of the August 11th 2007 election reflect a “protest vote” against old S. L. P. P., by the Youths and Women. This is the Final Call. The unnecessary arrogance and lack of respect shown by party leadership, is coming to hunt us. The stacking
the Civil service and other Departments with members of the Mende tribe, is also another factor for the protest vote.
Old S. L. P. P. kept acting as if they were not in power, but of opposition, not informing our people of what they were doing and why? Old S.L.P.P. really took things for granted.
No energy, water, jobs or opportunities Yet, there is massive corruption within Government.
Old S.L.P.P., did it to itself. Itself-destruct, in a lot of constituencies.
In old S.L.P.P’s 2007-2012 Manifesto, circulated July 1st 2007, Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, President of the Republic Of Sierra Leone, said, “we should now focus on creating jobs, empowering our Youth and Women, harnessing the enormous economic potential that we failed to exploit in the past”
Indeed, our Party and Government must Reform, NOW.
Our environment is now a National security issue. Issues of swinging population, diseases, deforestation, soil erosion.
Lack of sanitary water supply, energy, air pollution, terrorism, blood Diamonds, narcotics, Human trafficking and enivorrimental degradation-All have strategic and political impact on our Society.
New S. L. P. P. will look at both Social and Natural causes s regards Political changes inside Sierra Leone:
-We will create the conditions for Foreign Investments.
-Create a climate of Public Safety.
-Build working financial Systems.
-Courts to enforce Business Contracts.
-Security against Economic Predation.
-Government and Private Security.
New S.L.P.P. will engage real political, socio-economic and ctdturat reforms, so that Trade and free Markets will benefit our People. This will improve their standard of living, sharing in our National growth and development. Education and competition is the Right way forward.
New S. L. P. P. represents responsible and disciplined political Leadership with Conservative Economic Policies. This is our Path to National Growth and Development inside Sierra Leone.
None too soon.
