Norm, I believe that freezing temps plus humidity = snow
Cooler temps plus humidity =dew

Even cooler temps during the rainseason.. can reach 50 degrees farenheight in tropical rain forest for a short duration which creates fog with a distinctive burnt smell about it.

I don't think we should discount Norms personal observation "except during a rainstorm" as this is when these atmospheric events are most likely to occur and is most significant in our quest to propagate reptiles in captivity.

Thus it is an increase in RH at these times/season and the cooler temps that allows us to view the humid particles in the air caused by the supersaturation of the atmosphere.

Norm because you and I are in Florida, zone 10-8, we don't notice what other herpetculturist experience further north with the RH indoors gets to nil. I believe they are trying to increase they're RH day/nightly just for husbandaries sake throughout the duration.

These comments are in relation to keeping reptiles in captivity and not 100% about atmospheric conditions.
